This is a space where we can post practice SACs and use conferencing to upskill our abilities. Participating in a variety of editing processes is fundamental to developing writing competency. We will use Diigo to highlight, comment and bookmark each others' posts. We will do this in collaboration with La Trobe University Diploma of Education English Method students who are kindly going to participate in our blog as expert voices.

“The letters included in Dear America reveal that different people respond to war in completely different ways.” Discuss.

It is asking/telling you to write how people respond to war and how they respond in completely different ways, and how the letters show this.

The letters in Dear America do show how different types of peoples cope and respond to war. The letters also show an insight into how people respond completely different to each other in the face of war.

• How people respond to war.
• The different ways people respond to war.
• How and why the letters reveal this.
• Do you agree or disagree with the prompt, yes or no?

The response to the war is different for different people in Dear America
Yes, different people had different responses to the war.

1.) Soldiers thought of the war as a place to develop their skills/to become a man.
2.) Some soldiers and the people back home thought that the war is wrong.
3.) Some soldiers thought that the war was necessary and right.
4.) Some soldiers thought that the war is a good place where comradeship and brotherhood is made.

‘The letters included in dear America reveal that different people respond to war in completely different ways’. Discuss

The question is asking me to write about how and whether different people react and respond to war in completely different ways.

Contention:
That the war in Vietnam caused different people respond to war in completely different ways because:
- Everyone is different
- People have different beliefs
- People have different levels of experience in certain areas
- Some experience loss and others don’t
